The Adventures of Gavazn is a series of 5 comic albums (till now) created by Iranian cartoonist Dariush Ramezani. The series is the only comic series in Iran written in Gilaki, Caspian language, and a member of the northwestern Iranian language branch, spoken in Iran's Guilan Province.

Gavazn (in Persian means reindeer) first appeared as a Character in a short-Comic-Strip series in Humour & Caricature magazine. Gavazn was published in more than 130 issues of this well-known monthly magazine between 2001 and 2012. The success of the series gave him the idea to make a comic book album based on his character, Gavazn. In 2014, the first album of “The Adventure of Gavazn: Gavazn in Rasht” released by Nashr-e-Farhang-e-Illia, a house publisher in Iran. It rapidly turned to a popular book.

Its hero is Gavazn, an ordinary guy with a deer head. Each album contains a humor story in which Gavazn and his friends play roles.

The series has been admired for its expressive and clear Dariush’s drawings style, slapstick humour story, swashbuckling adventures with elements of fantasy in Gilaki, the language that was vanishing gradually.

Gavazn was born in Rasht (a city in north of Iran) and lives in Tehran (capital of Iran). One night he dreams of the famous statue of a see-horse from Rasht that asks him to come back to Rasht to run an errand. The dream repeats couple of nights and convinces Gavazn to go to his hometown and story begins…

Gavazn has returned to Rasht and lives with his friend Yusef. Mr. Zargari, their friend, comes to their place to watch an important Football match, but something weird happens…

Gavazn and his friends try to save Rayan, Mr. Zargari’s nephew…

Gavazn and friends go mountain climbing and decide to stay there for the night. Later in night, Gavazn changes his mind and wants to return back by himself, but an accident happens…
